vinyl podcast news roundup

So, I’ve got a couple of podcasts up now. I’m hoping to do two or three a week, each with the same format, keeping it short and sweet. I want to strike a balance between providing some interesting and useful information about the track and keeping each show short enough that it can fit in a listener’s music playlist without being too annoying.

Anyway, I managed to get a ping through to audio.weblogs.com by manually sending the ping through http://pingomatic.com. I use WordPress for this blog, and have added the enclosure hack to the software and the language element to the RSS, but the built-in auto-ping is not getting the job done. If anyone has any ideas about why I’m having to do this manually, let me know.

As a result of getting on to the audio.weblogs.com list, I’ve gotten my first comment on the podcast, courtesy of Funtime Ben at http://www.upthetree.com thanks, Ben. I’ve added upthetree.com and the Tracks Up the Tree podcast to my links. Highly recommend Ben’s podcast, he plays a great selection of new, legal music.

As long as I’m on the subject, I might as well give some shoutouts/gratuitous pingbacks to some of the other folks in my links list. O-Dub Wang, proprietor of the Soulsides weblog and podcast is one of the inspirations for the vinyl podcast. He’s an excellent writer, has fine taste in music, and is a fellow lurker on soulstrut.com. Speaking of writers, Nate at The Cool Out weblog is back doing his thing after the demise of Hipster Detritus. Nate’s print and web writings are always entertaining, and not only is he a fellow Minnesotan, we went to high school together.

Hope you’re enjoying the podcasts. My wife’s in the middle of law school finals, so I’ll have some free time on my hands this weekend, and hopefully will get a few more in the can. Please send any comments to cody@vinylpodcast.com thanks.
